ITMD is actually leading its first Mobile Commerce pilot project in Cape Verde (license has already been obtained from the Central Bank of Cape Verde) that must be launched before the end of 2012 before being replicated in other african countries.

Project Global Money Transfer Cabo Verde

Cape Verde is the first African country targeted by ITMD to implement its Vision. After two years of market studies to better understand the country identities and specificities, ITMD developed and promoted locally an m-Commerce business concept and model named “Global Money Transfer Cabo Verde” which turned out to be the most suitable to the country specificities.

“GMT Cabo Verde “ aims at launching the first Mobile Money Transfer service of the country which will enable the Cape-Verdean inhabitants and the diaspora, as well as the immigrants living in the country, to transfer and receive funds for all types of purpose (payments, remittances etc.), locally and from abroad, by using their mobile phone and/or internet.

The Project received a very strong support from the Government of Cape Verde and also from others local and international stakeholders. The Central Bank of Cape Verde has granted its approval for the setting up of “GMT Cabo Verde SA”, specialized in mobile money services, proving by this way the relevancy and the viability of the business model worked out for Cape Verde.

ITMD is actually negotiating with local and international investors to raise the necessary funds for the business model strategy final rolling-out.
